Check all the boxes for productivity, safety and compliance

Facilities and Operations Managers face an ever-growing list of ESG (Environment, Social & Governance) requirements and compliance obligations. These demands, often handed down from corporate or global leadership or mandated by external regulatory bodies, are in addition to existing productivity and WHS (Work Health and Safety) KPIs, making the responsibilities feel almost overwhelming.

Recognising the challenges faced by our industrial customers, Conquest has made it our mission to provide reliable, purpose-built floor cleaning equipment that ticks all the boxes productivity, safety and compliance.

Check the Box for: ESG Strategy

The global economy is proactively and reactively embracing new sustainability practices. Themes like ‘think local, act global’ urge Australian businesses to reconsider their operations’ impacts, especially in comparison to global competitors. Access to capital, markets, and talent is crucial for growth, but sustainability is increasingly viewed as a key enabler. ESG frameworks offer comprehensive tools to assess a business’s commitment, innovation, and adaptability to sustainability trends.

According to the 2022 Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) survey, nearly 70% of medium to large Australian organizations have publicly disclosed their strategies for managing climate risks, with 90% aligning with the Taskforce for Climate-related Financial Disclosures.

Transitioning fleets from fuel to electric is gaining traction among organizations aiming to reduce their carbon footprint and meet ESG targets. “Going green” is no longer optional or trendy; it’s considered a necessity. Some industries are even facing financial penalties for not actively reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Green fleet transition extends to capital equipment fleets, including industrial floor sweepers and scrubbers.

While abundant data exists on the environmental benefits of operating and maintaining battery-electric equipment, information on the “whole life carbon” footprint—from manufacturing to disposal—is harder to find. This complexity increases when manufacturers self-declare their green credentials without third-party verification, leading to potential greenwashing. ISO 14067:2018, which specifies principles for quantifying and reporting product carbon footprints, offers a solution.

“We don’t want to declare things. We want to certify,” says Nicola Flores, Head of International Sales for leading global manufactures Fimap. “We want an independent third party to come to our premises every year and check that everything we say is true according to an international standard.” Many Heavy Duty Scrubbers in the Conquest range are certified to the ISO 14067:2018 standards.

Proper disposal, recycling, or upcycling of equipment is crucial for minimizing environmental impact. Europe has programs for recycling electric equipment, but Australia still face some challenges in dismantling equipment and recovering valuable materials, particularly lithium batteries. With only two operational battery recycling plants in Australia, capacity is likely to increase to meet rising demand.

Choosing used equipment is another strategy organizations are adopting to support their ESG goals. Conquest’s refurbished or reconditioned sweepers and scrubbers, serviced by trained technicians, offer a cost-effective and sustainable solution.

Check the box for: Compliance & Accreditation

Maintaining clean, dust-free industrial spaces is essential for both facility presentation and compliance with WHS and environmental standards. Accreditation indicates adherence to industry standards and is increasingly sought by Australian industrial organizations.

Air quality has become a significant concern, with the Environment Protection Authority (EPA) focusing on dust control regulations. Companies failing to manage dust, particularly high-risk silica dust, face severe penalties. Additionally, internal combustion engine (ICE) emissions, including PM1.0 and PM2.5 particles, pose serious health risks, especially indoors. The World Health Organization (WHO) classified diesel exhaust as carcinogenic in 2012.

For the food industry, air quality and dust control are vital for maintaining safety standards and achieving HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) accreditation. HACCP addresses food safety through hazard analysis and control from raw material production to final product consumption.

Conquest’s team of floor cleaning specialists understand the unique requirements of each facility. Through our ISP, we guarantee recommendation of the right equipment to support WHS compliance and relevant industry accreditations.

Check the box for: Productivity

Despite the prevailing myths, “green” equipment does not require sacrificing performance, price, safety, or convenience. Conquest’s industrial electric floor cleaners, developed through global investment in research and development, offer full-shift runtimes and match or exceed the performance of ICE equivalents.

Electric equipment requires minimal maintenance, with fewer moving parts and a direct drive system rather than belts or hydraulics. All that is required is some simple daily checks, keeping the machine clean, and replacement of wearing parts. This has a positive impact on downtime and operating costs, and makes for a strong business case to transition to an electric fleet, considering the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
